I just read a letter to the editor of the local paper about issues relating to the recent leak of the Supreme Court draft decision that could overturn Roe v. Wade.

The author was clearly well-educated, articulate, and had researched his topic. But when I finished the letter, I didn’t know why he wrote it.

I wasn’t sure if he thought overturning Roe was good or bad, if he agreed or disagreed with the logic of the opinion, or if he was concerned about the precedent set by the leak.

I wanted to say, “What’s your point?”

Technology has made it so easy to publish anything from a short essay to a book. Before you publish your work, be sure it includes a clear answer to

“What’s your point?”
