Weaponizing Sex in the Abortion Debate is Stupid

Women withholding sex from men will have zero impact on the legal status of abortion

In the aftermath of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision which overturned Roe v. Wade, some pro-choice activists are suggesting that women withhold sex from their male partners to keep abortion legal.

Huh?

Am I understanding this? They’re saying that an office worker wife should refuse to have sex with her factory worker husband until abortion is legal in their state. Seriously? What would that wife expect her husband to do? Quit his job and run for office?

In a letter to the Orlando Sentinel, Rita Bornstein, a former president of Rollins College in Winter Park, wrote:

None of today’s protesters seem to have thought about Lysistrata. In the comedy by Aristophanes performed in Athens in 411 B.C. a woman named Lysistrata, to put pressure on men to end the Peloponnesian War between Greek city-states, influenced the women to withhold sex from their men.

In a male-dominated society this was the only action the women could find to demand change. What if the wives and girlfriends of those today who are at war with each other and with us made…
