Use SOAP when you study the Bible.

In this context, SOAP means:

  • Scripture
  • Observation
  • Application
  • Prayer

To begin by reading the scripture is obvious — but if that’s all you do, you’ll miss so much. After you read, look at what the writer was saying to the people in context (observation). Then ponder how you can apply that message to your life today. Finally, pray about it.
