Try a Different Version of the Golden Rule

Most of us grow up hearing about the golden rule, and it is definitely scriptural.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
In fact, Matthew 7:12 says,
The Golden Rule
In everything do to others as you would have them do to you, for this is the law and the prophets.
It’s also in Luke.
I think it’s a good idea to modify the golden rule a little bit in our relationships.
Not do unto others as you would have them do unto you, but do unto others as they would have you do unto them.
In other words, think about what other people want and need in your relationship and by your conduct, and do that for them as much as you can within the limitations of your abilities, of ethics, of responsibility, that kind of thing.
