Should You Be Afraid of Politicians?

When they’re ignorant and ill-informed, yes

On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the Orlando Sentinel ran two letters from politicians.

One was from Patricia Schroeder (Dem), member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1973–1997) and former presidential candidate (1987). Schroeder lives in Celebration, Florida, a master-planned community originally developed by the Walt Disney Company.

Schroeder wrote:

I am confused. In school I learned communism too over businesses. Friends who are from Cuba say that is what Castro did. So what is DeSantis doing taking over Disney? Looks like communism, smells like communism, so it must be communism.

With all due respect, Ms. Schroeder, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is not “taking over” Disney.
