Prayer for a Troubled World

Everything on Earth is temporary

Eternal God,

You are the maker of Heaven and Earth, the ruler of the universe.

In a world full of strife and conflict, we turn to You, our mighty and loving God.

We know that You cause everything to work together for the good of those who love You, and yet we don’t understand the evil and suffering we are witnessing and enduring.

We know that everything on Earth is temporary, but You are everlasting. Human power is but a brief illusion, and a battle fought against You will be lost.

We pray for an end to war, an end to violence in the world.

We turn to You, our refuge and our strength, because we know You are always with us, even through the most violent storms. We trust You and Your perfect timing.

Make us bold and courageous. Guide us to make the right choices, to take brave steps toward what we cannot see. Remove our fears and fill us with hope and confidence. Keep us focused on You.

We offer this prayer in the name that is above all names, Your son and our savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen
