My Opinion of Drag Queen Christmas
Thoughts on the show and the people who applaud it
I don’t remember when I first became aware of drag queen performers. I might have been in my late teens, maybe in my twenties.
Back then, as least as far as I knew, drag queen shows were nightclub acts with the performers dressed in elegant evening gowns singing traditional nightclub songs. They might have been a little campy, maybe a little suggestive or even bawdy, but they in no way resembled Drag Queen Christmas.
In recent years, thanks to news reports and social media, I’ve become increasingly aware of the twenty-first century version of drag queen shows. Clips all over the internet depict blatant sexuality, crude language, sexual simulations, nudity, and more. If this is what you consider entertainment, you’re welcome to it.
Then headlines about Drag Queen Christmas 2022 began hitting the news. And then I saw some clips.
This show degrades every performer and every audience member by turning wholesome Christmas traditions into crude, sexualized scenarios.
Worse, many of the performances have been marketed as “suitable for all ages.” The videos that I’ve seen were absolutely not suitable for minors — and I really don’t understand how any adult could find this show…
