News flash: Trump doesn’t care what you think
A few months ago, I wrote an article, “Don’t Judge Christianity by Christians.” Essentially, I was saying that you should judge Christianity by looking at what Jesus taught, not by what contemporary Christians do. You can read the full article here:
The article prompted some wonderful comments — plus a few that bewildered me. Why did people feel the need to turn an essay on faith into a diatribe against Donald Trump?
One wrote:
80% of Evangelical “Christians” voted for Donald Trump. That’s not exactly anecdotal evidence. I’d rather spend my time with non-Christians. And I am a Jesus believer.
Another wrote:
I judge Christianity how Christians have behaved over the last two thousand years. … the malevolent Evangelicals egged on by their pastors who drooled over a president who embodied none of the Christian values they allegedly affirm.
