3 Important Questions to Ask Before You Pay a Publisher
Paying to get your book published used to be a thing of shame, a sign that your book wasn’t good enough to be considered by traditional publishers.

Sadly, even more unsavvy authors are getting ripped off by publishing scams.
If you’re considering paying to have your book published, ask these three questions before you sign the contract and hand over your credit card information:
What is the total cost?
Find out the total amount you’ll have to pay to get your book published. You might hear things like, “We can get started for” a relatively low amount. That’s fine, but what’s the bottom line?
Related to this is to ask if there will be any additional charges as you go along. Pay-to-publish operations have been known to get your book in production then suggest add-on packages such as marketing, promotion, distribution, and so on. The pressure to purchase these extras is intense.
